WARMONGER should be hard to beat in the opener. The promising galloper from the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr stable has had three starts for two wins and arrived in the nick of time to defeat Queen Of Dragons at Listed level at Flemington over the 1800m on Melbourne Cup day. The son of War Decree conceded weight to his rivals here but does look to have the class edge and the step up to the 2025m looks like it will suit.

Race 8 No. 3 MIDWEST- ($4.40)

This looks to be a suitable assignment for MIDWEST. The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained comes into this fresh and defeated all but Asfoora when first up in early September at Caulfield over the 1100m before leading at a solid clip and running 5th at that venue. A winner of six of 13 at the distance, the son of Jouster is capable of producing some fast times.

Race 6 No. 2 MISS MIDDLE PARK- ($6)

MISS MIDDLE PARK can be an improver in Race 6. The Maher/Eustace galloper produced an excellent autumn campaign and resumed at Listed level at Caulfield in the Alinghi Stakes (1100m) on October 21, finishing 7th behind Lempicka. She settled back and made steady ground to land just under two lengths away. The daughter of Maurice was a notable improver on benchmark figures at her second run last time and is one from one at the track and trip.
