The Matt Dunn-trained IMPENDOR was a tragedy beaten last start and looks well placed here to avenge that last start defeat today. The Impending gelding was having just his second race start where he drew the outside gate (11) and understandably, was trapped three-deep to the turn. Finishing strongly in the run home, Ryan Maloney dropped his whip and had to settle for second prize, beaten a head on the line that day. Drawn the middle of the field here, Maloney should have him crossing and settling better than mid-field with cover. Avoiding any trouble from there on, he looks primed to break through for his first win in this contest.

Race 4:  No.1  BLAKMAX  ($3.50 with Bet Right)

Tony Gollan saddles-up BLAKMAX here who is in top-shelf form of late and looks a serious contender for this contest. The Brazen Beau gelding won a Class 3 at Eagle Farm four starts back with Ryan Maloney aboard and since then, placed in all three races on this track. Last start, he finished second behind stablemate, Warby, in a BM68 over 1350m, beaten a lip on the line. Ryan Maloney returns for today’s assignment and given a clear passage home, he should prove hard to hold out today.

Race 6:  No.10  VICTORY WIN  ($3.80 with Neds)

Annabel Neasham saddles-up VICTORY WIN here who is third-up and looks well placed to throw down a strong challenge in this contest. Last start, the Santos gelding blew his chances at barrier rise when he reared and settled third-last, six lengths off the pace. To his credit, he regained momentum in the run home and a passed a few, finishing fifth, beaten less than two lengths on the line. The step-up to the mile today looks ideal for him now as Bailey Wheeler sticks with him for this assignment. A better start today could see him finish too strong for this field and a win would not surprise.
