BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.2  TOP BOY  ($2.35 with BoomBet)

The Mark Currie-trained TOP BOY is in great touch lately and looks well placed here to win again. Last start, the Real Impact gelding was no match for Chernak but managed to beat the rest of the field home in a BM78 over 2200m at Eagle Farm. The tearaway leader had them all off the bit before the turn but to his credit, the five-year-old kept chasing and well ridden by Bailey Wheeler, he finished ahead of all but one over the line. Wheeler sticks with him today and with a 3kg claim here, he carries just half a kilo over the limit. He does no early work today as he jumps from gate one and behind a true pace today, he can go one better here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.6  MAID TO FIT  ($3 with Ladbrokes)

Kelly Schweida saddles-up MAID TO FIT here who is second-up and looks well placed to make it back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Snitzel mare returned to the track after 18 weeks in the paddock and she couldn’t have been more impressive as she crossed the line 1.5 lengths ahead of a 12-strong Maiden Hcp field, here over 1200m. Ridden the perfect race by James Orman, he had the mare settled in the one-one, then on the turn, peeled off the leaders’ heels, took over, and that was all she wrote. Fitter for that run and jumping from gate one today, the four-year-old gets all the favours today and has Orman sticking with her as well. She can do it all again right here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.3  PRIME ASSET  ($3.10 with Neds)

Gold Coast galloper, PRIME ASSET, is a track specialist here and in career-best form this time in, looks the testing material today. Last start, the Star Witness gelding made it three-straight podium finishes on the Doomben track when he finished third in a Class 6 Plate over 1350m. With Ben Thompson aboard, he drew the outside gate and after working early, led from the outset and was only found wanting in final 100m of the race. He drops in grade today and has Thompson remaining aboard for this assignment. He gets the gun-run from gate one here and should have no trouble leading them from barrier rise. Five starts at the track and distance have resulted in five podium finishes which puts him in the mix today.
