BEST BET 🏆

Race 8:  No.13  BRENTWOOD  ($4.20 with Ladbrokes)

Tony Gollan saddles-up BRENTWOOD here who is high-flying at the moment and at the weights today, looks a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding made it two wins from his past three starts when he led from barrier to box in a BM65 Hcp over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast. Angela Jones has her first ride on the four-year-old today and after her claim, he carries 2kgs less as he faces a rise in class here. The wide gate (14) looks his biggest hurdle here but is he can cross and find cover early, he should still be within striking distance of the speed up front. With a little luck in running here, he gets the last crack at them and should give this contest a real shake today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.3  STARZAM  ($5.25 with Bet Right)

The Kelly Schweida-trained STARZAM recorded his first win for this campaign last start and looks set for back-to-back victories today. After finishing mid-field in a Class 3 Plate over 1350m on this track, he returned here last start and saw the 1600m for the first time. Surprising many, the Starspangledbanner gelding not only saw the trip out, he finished best to collect the winner’s purse with apprentice Cejay Graham aboard. Today, he steps-up to the Cox Plate distance and applying similar race tactics, looks every chance of making it two-straight.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.6  ASWAAT  ($7.50 with Picklebet)

The Robert Heathcote-trained ASWAAT has taken her time finding some form but now looks set for her fourth career victory today. Last start, the Deep Field mare showed plenty of improvement when she found the podium for the first time this preparation. Coming from back in the field, she finished strongly to grab second prize in a BM65 Hcp, here over 1640m. Mark Du Plessis had his fourth ride on her that day and sticks with her for this assignment. She does no early work here jumping from gate three and a repeat of that last-start effort could see her grab a victory here today.
