BEST BET 🏆
Race 4: No.6 PRIME IMPACT ($5.50 with Bet Right)
The Kris Lees-trained PRIME IMPACT comes off a hat-trick here and seeing Doomben for the first time, looks a solid winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Snitzel gelding made it three in a row when he finished too strong for them in a BM64 Hcp over the mile at Newcastle. That made it five podium finishes from just seven career starts. He comes north of the border here where he is joined by Andrew Mallyon and in top shelf form this preparation, he can give this contest a real shake.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8: No.6 ANIMATE ($10 with Ladbrokes)
Kris Lees saddles-up ANIMATE here who is second-up and ticks enough boxes to suggest he can figure in the finish. Last start, the Animal Kingdom gelding finished fifth in Open company over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast, beaten less than two lengths over the line. A sound effort after 14 weeks off the scene. Andrew Mallyon has steered him to victory previously and has the job for this assignment. He is no stranger to Doomben and is a two-time winner at the track and distance. Already a three-time winner when second-up, a trouble-free run here should see him fight out the finish at odds.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.5 PREACH ($26 with bet365)
The Team Edmonds-trained PREACH is at big odds here but still looks a solid each-way chance to take this out. Last start, the Flying Artie gelding was second-up and improved greatly to finish third in a Class 2 Plate over 1100m at Ipswich. He fought hard in the run home but a lack of race fitness saw him unable to match it with the first two past the post, beaten a length on the line. Placed twice in two starts here previously and already a winner when third-up, he looks a touch over the odds and is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
