BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.9  TYCOON MISTRESS  ($3 with BlueBet)

The Annabel Neasham-trained TYCOON MISTRESS is high flying at the moment and she looks the one they have to catch in this contest. Last start, the Capitalist mare clobbered a Class 1 Hcp field over the 1000m sprint at Eagle Farm. With James Orman aboard, she came within one second of the track record when as she led from barrier to box, crossing the line almost three lengths clear of the ten-strong field. She has managed to find the podium in all four starts this time in and should be at her peak for this event. She has 2kgs more to carry today but gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to lead again. Orman sticks with her and she looks set to give them something to chase today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.9  FLEUR DU MONDE  ($4.60 with Ladbrokes)

The Chris Waller-trained FLEUR DU MONDE has improved in three starts this time in and with a gear change today, looks set to stake a serious claim for victory here. Last start, the Dundeel mare came north of the border for the first time and was impressive when third-up, she beat all but one home in a BM65 over the mile at Eagle Farm. She fought tooth and nail with the race favourite (Tenzing) all the way home and was only beaten half a length on the line as an $18 chance that day. There will be no $18 on offer here as Waller slips the blinkers on for the first time today. Nicely drawn in gate five, Damien Thornton sticks with her as she maps to settle on the speed again. With three runs under her belt this preparation, she should be near her peak now and will take beating here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.9  ISLAND MAGIC  ($6.60 with BoomBet)

Tony Gollan has a trio of gallopers lining up here as we run with ISLAND MAGIC who ticks most of the boxes today and looks a genuine winning chance on fresh legs in this contest. Last start, the Hinchinbrook mare ended her two-start campaign by finishing second in a BM68 Hcp, here over 1050m on a Soft 6 that day with Ceejay Graham aboard for the first time. The five-year-old has trialled recently, finishing third with Graham in the saddle. Yet to miss a top-two finish in three first-up runs, she has also finished on the podium in all three starts in heavy going so conditions looks ideal for her today. She gets the gun-run from gate one today and with Graham still the pilot, she looks right in the mix.
