Race 7:  No.2  A CALL FROM HEAVEN  ($3.60 with Picklebet)

Tony Gollan saddles-up A CALL FROM HEAVEN here who is now in top form and looks a solid chance of going back-to-back today. Last start, the Divine Prophet mare was third-up when she recorded her fourth career win by taking out a BM65 Hcp over the mile at Ipswich. She sat outside the leader to the 800m mark, then took over and held off all challenges to go on and win by half a length on the line. Not surprisingly, she ran the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. She meets similar company here and after Cejay Graham’s claim, the four-year-old carries just half a kilo more today. She gets the gun-run from gate one and will probably lead on settling. Three starts back now, she should be at her peak and will take beating.

Race 5:  No.5  ALLUSIONIST  ($5.10 with BoomBet)

Formerly with the Team Freedman stable, ALLUSIONIST has his first start for the O’Dea & Hoysted Racing Team today and looks well placed for a forward showing in this contest. Last start, the Super One gelding found the podium for the third time this preparation when he finished a close-up third in a BM68 Hcp over 1200m at Ipswich. After changing stables, he has since won a trial, here over 1000m in preparation for this assignment. Ash Morgan crosses the border form NSW to take the reins today where the four-year-old draws ideally in gate two and maps to settle right behind the speed. With a trouble-free run here, he looks a serious contender for the main prize.

Race 8:  No.13  CENTRESTONE  ($19 with bet365)

The Chris Waller-trained CENTRESTONE is fresh off a 20-week absence here but since making the move from NSW, has settled in nicely to his QLD surroundings and looks a good chance of making her presence felt here. Last start, the Hinchinbrook mare made it back-to-back wins at Ipswich when she arrived just in time claim the major prize in a Class 1 over 1710m. She carried a half kilo over her allocated weight that day but it wasn’t enough to deny her a second-straight victory on QLD soil. Since then, she has one trial under her belt where she finished second on the synthetic track at the Gold Coast. Ben Thompson has the reins today and from gate six, maps to do little early work. This will be just her fifth race start today but if she can find clean air in the run home, she looks a genuine podium chance at (currently) double-figure odds and well worth an each-way ticket here.
