Race 4:  No.4  PRIVATE BANKER  ($5.75 with Bet Right)

The Desleigh Forster-trained PRIVATE BANKER makes his Doomben debut today and fitter for two runs back, looks a solid chance of going back-to-back here. Last start, the Capitalist gelding was second-up and proved too strong for them, winning a BM62 Hcp over the mile at Gatton. Racing wide throughout, he tail-gated the two leaders to the turn and in the run, despite showing resentment to the blinkers, he got the better of them and went on to a solid win. The stable have shelved the blinkers (and winkers) for this contest. Damien Thornton sticks with him today as he steps-up in distance here which looks ideal for him now. A trouble-free run here sees him as a genuine contender for the major prize today.

Race 7:  No.8  TENZING  ($6.50 with Ladbrokes)

Tony Gollan saddles-up a couple here as we run with TENZING who looks the stronger winning chance today. Last start, the Contributer gelding was fresh off an 18-week spell when he finished mid-field in a BM68 hcp over 1200m at Eagle Farm. Drawn the carpark (12 of 12), he settled last of the 12 runners, 10 lengths off the lead. On straightening, he could still see them all and was the widest of them and passed half of them in the run home, doing his best over the final 100m. Stepping-up to the 1350m today, he is already a two-time winner over the trip and has won two of three second-up appearances as well. James Orman sticks with him and from gate three today, expect plenty of improvement from the five-year-old.

Race 6:  No.8  SPILL THE TEARS  ($6 with Bet Right)

The Robert Heathcote-trained SPILL THE TEARS has found his mojo this time in and looks set to bring up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Spill The Beans gelding made it two-straight at Toowoomba when he clobbered a Class 3 field over the 1000m sprint. He led on settling and in the run home, left them all to squabble over the minor prizes as he crossed the line two lengths clear of the pack. The four-year-old faces city class company for the first time today and after the 3kg claim for Melea Castle, he comes in here half a kilo under the limit. He probably leads from gate three and is already a two-time winner over the 1200m trip. Winning form is good form and after four runs back, he should be at his peak for this and will take catching.
