BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.7  WARIALDA WARRIOR

John Ramsey saddles-up WARIALDA WARRIOR here who is second-up today and did enough first-up to suggest he will take beating in this contest. Last start, the Saxon Warrior gelding was fresh off his unplaced run in the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) when he turned a few heads by beating all but one home in a BM58 over the short 1400m trip at Scone. He steps-up to the mile today and has Darryl Mc Lellan sticking with him for this assignment. Fitter for that first-up effort, this is a lot easier than tackling Group 1 company and with a trouble-free run today, he should clean them up here.

Race 2:  No.4  CLEVER COOKIE

Goulburn galloper, CLEVER COOKIE sees this track for the first time today and three starts in, looks a solid winning chance in this contest. Last start, the well-bred Ocean Park filly improved off her first two efforts when she finished third in a Canberra Maiden over 1300m. She missed the start by a length and after taking the turn as the widest runner, she finished strongly to grab her first podium finish. She handled the Soft 7 well that day so conditions here look suitable. Grant Buckley is the new pilot for this assignment and the extra distance today looks ideal. At peak fitness after three runs in, she should take beating here.

Race 4:  No.4  WHO EVER THOUGHT

The Scone-based galloper, WHO EVER THOUGHT is second-up today and has impressed in all three starts to date. Last start, the Panzer Division gelding resumed off an 18-week break and having his first start for Jeremy Gask, caught the eye with a fast finishing effort to grab third prize in a Class 1 Hcp over 900m on the Scone track. After settling worse than mid-field, he took a while to get going and was doing his best work over the final 100m. The extra distance here looks ideal today as he welcomes new pilot Grant Buckley into the saddle. He won second-up last preparation and looks a great chance of doing it again at odds today.
