Dubbo Tips for Friday, September 29

Our form expert provides Dubbo tips for today’s horse racing at Dubbo Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.4  SHUBICK  ($2.90 with Ladbrokes)

Mudgee galloper SHUBICK loves racing here, boasting three podium finishes from his four visits to Dubbo and third-up today, looks a serious player in this contest. Last start, the Rubick gelding showed a ton of improvement when he beat all but one home in a Class 1/Maiden, here over the mile trip. He came out of the pack and chased Talkachino all the way home, but had to settle for second prize on the day. Clay Gallagher is the pilot today and fitter for two runs back, the six-year-old can get the job done here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1:  No.2  RAIDING  ($3.80 with bet365)

Local Trainer Garry Lunn saddles-up RAIDING here who is in top-shelf form of late and looks set to continue the good work in this contest. Last start, the Rebel Raider mare came off a win over the mile trip in a BM58 Hcp when she took on Class 3 company and did well to finish third in the tougher event. Both races were run on this track and she had Braith Nock on board. Today, she steps up to the 2200m where she won her first race (in BM58 company), also on this track. Nock sticks with her here as she drops back sharply in grade and after the claim, still looks well placed at the weights. She has won two of her past four starts and is a two-time winner at the track and should take beating here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.8  RANUNCULA  ($6 with BlueBet)

The Stephen Jones-trained RANUNCULA has been knocking on the door at his past few starts and with conditions that suit here, he looks well placed to bring up that illusive win for this campaign. Last start, the Exosphere gelding finished strongly to grab fourth prize in Open company, here over 1100m. The stable have taken the hint and decided to put him over further ground today and after the claim, he carries just 52kgs here which is 3kgs under the limit. We were on him at Scone (two starts back) where he finished fourth (of 12), beaten less than two lengths when carrying 63kgs so he should benefit from a drop of 11kgs from that run here today. He is already a two-time winner at the track and with all that in mind, he looks great value in this line-up.
