Forbes Tips 31/07/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 6 No. 2 KATTEGAT – ($4.50)

Keen on KATTEGAT in Race 6 now that the five-year-old has found some form. He battled in early runs at his current preparation but did have a couple of excuses in some of those before stepping out in a BenchMark 74 at Queanbeyan and proving to be too good for the likes of Rapidity. The son of Medaglia D’Oro rises to the 1200m but was strong over the last 200m at his recent win, while he is a three time winner at the distance with one of those coming at Forbes. Stick with him.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 3 OUR FOX – ($11)

This might be one for OUR FOX to register his second career win. The five-year-old was only warming up late when resuming with a 6th at Moruya before heading to Grafton on July 13 and just missing when runner-up behind Oakfield Duke in a Class 2 over the 1100m. Third up last time he was a narrow runner-up at Muswellbrook. A firmer in the early betting, he just needs to overcome the wide gate to be a factor here.

Best Value 💰 (EACH-WAY)

Race 7 No. 4 MCCORMACK- ($16)

The feature is the Forbes Cup over the 1600m and I don’t mind MCCORMACK at the each-way quote. The six-year-old comes back from the city after some solid performances in Midway races. He was unlucky when resuming with a 4th at Randwick over the 1100m in late June before just warming up late over the 1200m on the Heavy at Rosehill on July 16 when 9th behind Noble Soldier. The Tracy Bartley-trained galloper looks like he wants the 1600m now and he was solid in a series of runs when stepping up in distance at this stage of his last preparation, finishing runner-up three times in town. Look for him to settle in a midfield position and he should be strong late in the piece.
