BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.3  HOT OR NOT  ($2.20 with Ladbrokes)

Toowoomba galloper HOT OR NOT is in good touch this time in and looks the testing material in this contest today. Last start, the Furnaces mare had her fifth start at the Gatton track where she finally broke the duck-egg here and scored an impressive win in a BM58 Hcp over the 860m sprint distance. That made it two from two over the short course trip. Emily Lang was aboard that day and keeps the job for this assignment as well. She gets the gun-run again from gate one and maps to be possibly box-seating on settling. Coming off a last-start win at this track and distance, she looks set for back-to-back victories today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.6  AFFINITY FLYER  ($2.50 with Ladbrokes)

Gold Coast galloper AFFINITY FLYER is in great form this campaign and making her track debut today, looks set for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Kobayashi mare made it two wins from her past three starts when she beat home a Class 1 field on the synthetic track over 1050m at Gold Coast. With Jag Guthmann-Chester on board for the first time, she settled mid-field early and simply too strong for them in the run home. She is stepping up class today but faces country grade gallopers here as Guthmann-Chester retains the ride for this contest. With just six other runners to face, she will take beating here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.5  TUHINGA  ($5.50 with bet365)

The John Thomas-trained TUHINGA is third-up today and ticks enough boxes here to suggest he is a major contender in this contest. Last start, the Epaulette gelding was second-up when he took on a Class 3 Hcp at Toowoomba but found that a little too big to tackle, finishing unplaced (beaten three lengths) in the 1300m event. Fitter for two runs back, he should find the 1400m more to his liking today as he also drops in grade and has Georgina Cartwright back aboard who has steered the five-year-old to two minor placings from her three rides to date. He is expected to settle back in the field today and unbeaten in three previous third-up appearances, he should prove hard to hold out here.
