Gold Coast visitor, CELESTIAL SOL sees the Gatton track for the first time today and second-up looks well placed to give us a bold sight here. Last start, the Fighting Sun gelding was fresh off an 11-week freshen-up when he finished fifth in a BM78 over 1200m against city class competition at Eagle Farm. Trying to lead all the way, his condition gave out inside the final 200m, still finishing just a length from the winner in the end. Rikki Jamieson boasts a strong record with the six-year-old saluting three times and finishing runner-up on two other occasions from her ten rides to date and she returns to steer the ship in this contest. Already a winner when second-up, a trouble-free run today could see him take home the major prize here.

Race 5:  No.3  METAL ROCK  

Gold Coast galloper, METAL ROCK is second-up today and looks well placed to frank his first-up efforts by going back-to-back today. Last start, the Fastnet Rock gelding resumed off a lengthy six-month break and made it look easy when he took out a BM58 over 1400m on this track. Carrying 59.5kgs, he came from mid-field to cross the line one length ahead of the 11-strong field that day. Paul Hammersley is the new pilot today and already a winner when second-up, the five-year-old looks on target for back-to-back wins in this contest.

Race 8:  No.8  AWESOME AUDREY

Sunshine Coast galloper, AWESOME AUDREY boasts a strong record on the Gatton track and returning here today, looks well placed to put up a challenge and go back-to-back in this contest. Last start, the Scissor Kick mare came off a 15-week spell and took out a BM58 Hcp, here over 1100m. She drew wide that day and had to do it from the back of the field, but managed to get there in the end, winning by a length on the line. She meets similar company today over the same journey and has Georgina Cartwright on board for the first time. Scoring a clear run to the line here, she can give this a real shake today.
