BEST BET 🏆

Race 9:  No.3  EL ASTEROID  ($4.40 with Palmerbet)

Annabel Neasham saddles-up EL ASTEROID here who is second-up today and looks up to this challenge. Last start, the El Roca gelding was having his first start for the Neasham stable (formerly with Les Kelly) when he gave the leaders too much start and had to settle for third prize that day. Michael Hellyer was in the saddle for that event and sticks with him for today’s assignment. Fitter for that first-up run, he is well drawn here and with a trouble-free run today, is capable of taking home the major prize.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 10:  No.9  BOHEMIAN BOOM  ($14 with Palmerbet)

The Robert Heathcote-trained BOHEMIAN BOOM is third-up here and should be ready now to produce his best today. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding showed a ton of improvement when he finished just behind the placegetters (beaten 1.5 lengths) in a BM58 Hcp over 1300m at Toowoomba. Carrying 59.5kgs, he settled last of the ten runners and despite a spirited effort, was unable to run down the leaders. Fitter for two runs back now, he steps-up to the mile trip for the first time and has Jake Bayliss in the saddle for his first ride on the five-year-old. He maps to settle near mid-field here and with a clear run to the line, he looks a better than even chance of snatching a win today at good odds.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.10  DUTCHY’S ANGEL  ($19 with bet365)

Sunshine Coast galloper DUTCHY’S ANGEL finished second at her only start here and looks well placed to go one better today at odds. Last start, the Dutch Harry mare stepped-up to the plate and faced a tough assignment when she took on a BM75 over the 800m sprint at Ipswich. Used up early to cross and lead, she slapped on a blistering pace from the outset and did well to hang on for fifth place in the end. Matthew Powell returns for the ride today after steering the mare to her maiden win at Kilcoy last preparation. She drops in grade today and fitter for those two runs back, looks a sneaky chance here at odds.
