BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 12 VALIEVA – ($13)

The Shayne Cahill trained VALIEVA failed to find any early rhythm under stable apprentice Caitlin Tootell on debut last prep. She actually did jump with them before being restrained from her wide gate with inexperience costing the filly through the early stages. Tootell helped Valieva to go through her gears and the pair finished off at such a rate that they nearly caused a boil over on the line. Cahill subsequently tipped Valieva out and the now 4yo mare has had two runs back. Valieva found herself strung-up on the fence while the winner and placegetters all built up the middle over 1100m here last start. She again finished strongly under Tootell as the race was all over. Valieva still hasn’t got the early part of her races figured out just yet and will appreciate being able to build into her stride over 1200m.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 10 KRISTOBEL – ($4.65)

Rider Dom Tourneur will have to overcome a wide barrier draw in order to get KRISTOBEL home for trainer Sarah Rutten. The mare was badly over racing second-up as the field walked in front at Murray Bridge. Jason Holder kept her outside the leader Wiggum who quickly put them away. Kristobel’s racing manners had brought her undone as she weakened to run third. Settled back in an evenly run race at Morphettville over this trip before running on okay up the middle of the track behind Deepfloat Diva. The second-placed Wiggum has also since proven the form at Flemington on Cup Day. Rutten applies the blinkers to Kristobel which may help to sharpen her as Tourneur winds her up out in the middle of the track.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8 No. 7 NO ENTITLEMENT – ($7.50)

Strathalbyn trainer Alexander Justice has been experiencing a purple patch of form of late. The well travelled horseman has been reaping the rewards of placing his small stable of horses to perfection. He’s found a good race at Gawler Racecourse on Thursday for NO ENTITLEMENT who has raced without a lot of luck this prep. Showed no early speed first-up here before Felicity Atkinson chartered a path back to the inside. No Entitlement was going so well that she did find the front a bit too soon and peaked on her run to finish second. Ran up behind them and was not fully tested at Murray Bridge. Again found horses coming back onto her at Strathalbyn last start to run fourth to Santastico yet again. No Entitlement will strip fitter again and should find a good run behind the speed under Rochelle Milnes.
