BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 9 PROVEN CORRECT – ($3)

Jason Holder can continue his winning ways at Gawler Racecourse on Wednesday as he partners Proven Correct. The boss man Leon Macdonald might be retiring; however, his team have been showing no signs of slowing down. Proven Correct had been a little green while showing signs of ability at the trials and jump outs. Tightened at the start and sent out the back when racing over 1000 metres at Murray Bridge on debut. They ran a reasonable time with a quick last 600m in the race won by Kalasec. Proven Correct was the one making big strides up the middle to run third with Walk Like An Angel splitting the pair. Walk Like An Angel has since come out to win in town with Kalasec running third in what shapes as a good form reference.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4 No. 3 HOSTESS SUSIE – ($6.25)

Murray Bridge trainer Roslyn Day has HOSTESS SUSIE racing as a mare in form. She’s had four starts for her new trainer, culminating with a second-up win over 1706 metres. Hostess Susie was dominant in winning her maiden despite being slowly into stride. Callan Murray kept his mount comfortable in the strung-out field before producing her up the middle of the track. Hostess Susie took the leap outside of maiden class with another strong finishing performance behind Campobasso over 2100m on a good 4 track. We were keen to be on her at the double figures last start in an effort to turn the tables on Campobasso. Hostess Susie again gave away many lengths advantage in the run with the task of reversing the result proving insurmountable. Smaller field here may be in her favour with Hostess Susie ticking the heavy track box last start.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 6 WANALOAN – ($8.50)

Tommy Stokes has found another winnable race for their filly WANALOAN at Gawler Racecourse on Wednesday. The lightly raced filly resumed by ticking off her maiden over 1000 metres at Murray Bridge two starts ago. Kayla Crowther was able to follow the speed on her before getting to them near the furlong. Wanaloan still had to deal with the powerful finish of Kalasec who raced past in a threatening manner. With Wally’s West also driving through along the inside, Wanaloan somehow pulled out enough to regain the lead. The filly was pulling away again from the boys on the line with those two horses also winning races themselves since.
