Race 5 No. 1 DEPRIVATION ($4.60) 

DEPRIVATION is a solid player in Race 5. The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper was a Warrnambool BenchMark 58 winner two starts ago before tackling a BM64 at Hamilton and finishing runner-up behind Bold Manner. That came off a six-week break and the five-year-old went 1.2 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner. Luke Cartwright rides and claims the 3kg.

Race 2 No. 6 WRITTEN BY YOU – ($7) 

WRITTEN BY YOU can go close in Race 2. The Simon Zahra-trained galloper has finished 4th at his two starts this time in and had little chance on a leaders dominated track at Pakenham on November 10, missing out behind Vonk. He should have gone much closer at his only start at Geelong, which came on debut when 5th behind the eventual VRC Derby (2500m) winner, Riff Rocket. Step up to the 1755m looks like it will suit.
