Race 9:  No.8  WARBY  ($11 with bet365)

The Tony Gollan-trained WARBY is in great touch this preparation (winning two of his past three), and looks well placed for another big finish as he makes his track debut in this contest. Last start, the Hellbent gelding was in line for a hat-trick of wins when he settled too far back in the field and couldn’t make up the ground in time, finishing third in the set weights event over 1400m at Eagle Farm. Robbie Dolan was aboard that day and gets another chance with the four-year-old here in a similar-sized field. He will get back from gate 13 as the speed map suggests but after four runs this time in, he will at peak fitness and as long as he is close enough, he can figure in the finish here at good each-way odds.

Race 5:  No.7  SOO SWEET  ($11 with Bet Right)

The Team Edmonds-trained SOO SWEET is yet to miss a top-three finish in seven-straight race starts and sporting a gear change here, she looks set to continue that trend. Last start, the Sooboog filly made it back-to-back wins as she was sent out a white-hot ($1.80) favourite and got the job done, albeit just, as she got the bob-in after a two-horse war with Torque I Tee over the final 200m. The stable fit the blinkers here for the first time as the three-year-old makes her Gold Coast debut in this contest. James Orman scores the ride and although drawn out in gate ten, the filly has good early gate speed which should see her cross and settle in the first half of the field. With a trouble-free run here, she can rack-up the hat-trick at odds.

Race 8:  No.4  MAID TO FIT  ($11 with Neds)

Kelly Schweida saddles-up MAID TO FIT here who is in top-shelf form this time in and looks poised to pounce again in this contest. Last start, the Snitzel mare was unbeaten in four starts this preparation when she came across one better in a BM78 over 1200m at Eagle Farm. With James Orman aboard for his eighth ride on the mare, she did well jumping from the outside gate (10) where she used up plenty of fuel to cross and settle outside the leader and still managed to beat all but one home that day. Drawn much better here in gate five, she will do far less work early as Orman sticks with her for this assignment. Five starts in and at her peak, she will give this a real shake and is well worth an investment both ways.
