Race 4:  No.3  SILENT RUSSIAN

Wyong trainer, Kristen Buchanan saddles-up SILENT RUSSIAN here who is high-flying of late and looks well placed here to come under notice as a winning chance today. Last start, the Russian Revolution gelding came off consecutive minor placings when he brought-up career-win number two by taking out a Class 1 set weights event over 1700m at Scone. Anna Roper was aboard for the first time that day and with her determination, drove the four-year-old to the line to take home the major prize. He steps up in distance today which looks ideal as he was doing his best work late in that last-start win. Roper has the reins again and he gets all the favours from gate one today. He is yet to miss a podium finish since transferring from the Team Freedman camp and carrying 2.5kgs less today, he will take beating.

Race 1:  No.4  ROYAL STANDARD 

The James Cummings-trained ROYAL STANDARD is second-up today and sporting a major gear change, looks in the mix for victory in this contest. Last start, the Dundeel gelding made just his second appearance on a race track (after almost 12 months off the scene) and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a 1300m Maiden at Hawkesbury. On very fresh legs, he settled near last, spotting the front-runners ten lengths and finished strongly to cross just behind the placegetters, beaten less than three lengths on the line. The step-up to the mile today looks ideal as Cummings puts the blinkers back on for this assignment. Zac Lloyd is the new pilot and settling a little closer to the speed today should see the Godolphin galloper finish in the money.

Race 6:  No.6  DAGON

The Ciaron Maher-trained DAGON suffered from the ‘second-up syndrome’ last start and looks ready to bounce back from that today. After an impressive first-up maiden win at Newcastle, the finishing zip just wasn’t quite there last start, seeing the well-bred I Am Invincible gelding finish just behind the placegetters in a BM64 over 1000m at Wyong. He chased them all the way to the line, beaten just half a length in the end. Ash Morgan was aboard for both previous rides and steers the ship again today. He maps to settle in the first half-dozen from gate six (of 16) and with a trouble-free run, is expected to put in the big ones today and come away with the major prize from his track debut here.
