Race 7:  No.8  CLEMENCEAU  ($5 with Unibet)

The Team Hawkes-trained CLEMENCEAU has a resume that’s second to none and looks poised for another big effort here. Last start, the Capitalist gelding came off his first unplaced finish in 11 career-starts when he bounced back to beat all but one home in the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill. Never on the track, he settled mid-field and three-wide before taking the turn even wider and ran home strongly to take home second prize, beaten less than a length on the line. Unbeaten when third-up, he draws well in gate six and will take beating here.

Race 4:  No.5  TOESONTHENOSE  ($7.50 with Bet Right)

The John Sargent-trained TOESONTHENOSE is in outstanding form this time in and looks a serious player in this contest. Last start, the Ocean Park gelding made it two on the trot when he disposed of a BM64 field over 1550m on the Kensington track at Randwick. Carrying 60.5kgs, he sat outside the leader and passing the 300m mark, took control and left the rest to argue over the minors as he went on to score by 1.5 lengths on the line. He steps-up slightly in grade here but is in great shape to bring up the hat-trick.

Race 9:  No.3  DESERT ICON  ($10 with bet365)

The Chris Waller-trained DESERT ICON has had one run back in preparation for this and he looks all set to challenge for the trophy. Last start, the Irish-sired galloper resumed off a lengthy spell of 21 weeks in the paddock when he beat all but one to the line in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Cup over 1600m. Kerrin McEvoy has the reins here as the seven-year-old steps-up to an even more suitable distance. He is already a two-time winner when second-up and boasts six wins and no less than ten minor placings from his 27 career starts. Well drawn in gate five, he maps to settle mid-field with cover and fitter for that first-up run, he can give this a real shake at (currently) each-way odds.
