Taree galloper MISCHIEVOUS MOLLY is yet to miss a podium finish in six career starts and dropping in grade here, looks the one to beat again. Last start, the Sooboog filly made it four-straight top-two finishes this preparation when she beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp over 1500m at Port Macquarie. Beaten a lip on the line, that was a big effort after winning her maiden the start prior to that. Andrew Gibbons has been with the filly for her past five starts and sticks with her today. The stable fit the blinkers for the first time and facing easier company today, she looks the one to beat.

Kim Waugh saddles-up CHIPPER here who is second-up today and looks a genuine winning prospect here. Last start, the No Nay Never gelding was robbed of victory when caught three-wide without cover and did well to grab second prize in a Midway Class1 Hcp, here over 1000m. He drew the outside gate that day with Rory Hutchings aboard and fresh off a 19-week break, finished strongly, only to be denied by half a length on the line. He meets similar company here and steps up in distance which should suit. Fitter for that first-up run, he looks a big chance in this contest.

Grafton galloper DURNSTEIN boasts a strong fresh record and first-up today, looks a serious contender for the major prize in this contest. Last start, the Exosphere gelding stepped-up sharply in grade and was most impressive when finishing third in the Class 4 Country Championship Preview over 1200m on his home track. He was then sent to the paddock and goes to the gates today on fresh legs. Ben Looker remains in the saddle today after being aboard for all six starts to date which has reeled two wins and three minor placings. Already a two-time winner when first-up, he should be there at the finish today.
