BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.1 THE EXTREME CAT ($2.90 with bet365)
Newcastle trainer Nathan Doyle makes the trip south to Gosford today with just THE EXTREME CAT on the float and second-up here, he looks in the mix for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Extreme Choice gelding came off a 31-week break (while changing stables) and having his first start for Doyle, blitzed his opposition in a 1005m Maiden at Coffs Harbour. With Ash Morgan aboard, the former Maher & Eustace-trained galloper was trapped three-deep without cover to the turn but still found plenty in the run home to put 2.5 lengths on them across the line. With an ideal draw here (in gate two) and Morgan remaining in the saddle, he maps to be box-seating on settling and should prove very hard to hold out in the run home.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.2 STAR LEGACY ($2.35 with Palmerbet)
The Gary Portelli-trained STAR LEGACY is in great touch this time in and the step up in distance today looks ideal at this stage of his campaign. Last start, the Knight Exemplar gelding had Rachel King aboard for the first time and together they managed to beat all but one home in a Class 1 over 1500m at Hawkesbury. He is no stranger to the track, winning his maiden here three starts back over the mile. King sticks with him today and with a trouble-free run, he looks the one to beat.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.3 GLOBAL EMPIRE ($3.30 with Palmerbet)
Joe Pride saddles-up GLOBAL EMPIRE here who is second-up today and looks poised to make hid Gosford debut a winning one. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding was fresh off a 14-week spell when he impressed by beating all but one home in a BM64 over 1000m at Warwick Farm. Fitter for that run, he steps up to the 1100m here where he is already a winner, claiming his maiden victory two starts back at Wyong. Rory Hutchings rode him that day and returns here for today’s assignment. The four-year-old is a promising type who has missed the podium just twice in eight starts and avoiding any trouble here, he should be there at the finish again.
