Gosford Tips for Thursday, August 24

Our form expert provides Gosford tips for today’s horse racing at Gosford Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.2  JACK DUGGAN  ($4.20 with Ladbrokes)

Jason Deamer saddles-up JACK DUGGAN here who is three starts into this campaign and ready to rock. Last start, the American-bred gelding was over a more suitable distance and finished strongly to grab third prize in a BM64 over 1800m at Hawkesbury, beaten less then a length on the line. Today, he steps-up to an even more suitable trip and has Tim Cook returning for the ride (after steering him to two victories from three previous rides). He won fourth-up last preparation and is a winner at the track and has saluted over today’s journey. With all boxes ticked here, the scene looks set for him to post his first win this campaign.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.1  PURE HYDROGEN  ($3.45 with BoomBet)

The John Thompson-trained PURE HYDROGEN is third-up today and looks set for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Exosphere gelding came off a poor first-up effort at Randwick and turned things around when he clobbered his 10 rivals in a BM68 over the mile at Kembla Grange with Keagan Latham in the saddle. He meets similar company here and has Latham sticking with him for this assignment. Already a winner when third-up and a two-time winner (from three starts) over the trip, he is perfectly drawn in gate three and should give us a bold sight for our cash today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.3  TINKA’S LAD  ($7.50 with Neds)

The Kim Waugh-trained TINKA’S LAD is a Gosford specialist and back to the Central Coast track today, looks a genuine winning chance at odds. Last start, the Myboycharlie gelding had no luck at Kembla Grange but still managed to finish third in a BM64 over the 1200m trip. He struck trouble several times in the run and in the run home, Christian Reith had to steer him off heels to find clean air before stretching him out. He meets similar company today but returns to the Central Coast track where his three previous starts at the trip resulted in two wins and a runner-up finish. Reith sticks with him here and with a trouble-free run today, he can give this contest a real shake.
