BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.7 FIFO FILLY ($6.25 with Bet Right)
Locally-trained by Pat Murphy, FIFO FILLY is third-up today and should be ready to produce her best in this contest. Last start, the Your Song mare just peaked a little early when she finished fifth in a Class 1 Hcp over 1100m at Nowra. Trying to lead all the way, she hung in there in the run home but was swamped in the concluding stages, beaten just over two lengths on the line. Back on home soil today, Jay Ford also returns for his third ride on the four-year-old and dropping back in distance may also be an advantage today. She looks great value with the bagmen and left alone in front, she can steal this race.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.2 SNAP BOOK ($2.85 with BoomBet)
Albury-based galloper SNAP BOOK is third-up today and returning to country racing, looks right in this contest. Last start, the Fighting Sun gelding was second-up off a 17-week spell and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth (of 14) in a Class 2 Hwy Hcp over 1400m at Rosehill. Nick Heywood returns for the ride today and although drawn wide, he normally gets back and will be doing his best work late. The step up to the mile trip looks ideal for him now and already a winner when third-up, he should prove hard to hold out here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.2 PROMISING PROSPECT ($18 with Picklebet)
Warwick Farm visitor, PROMISING PROSPECT is second-up here and on top of the ground for the first time today, could surprise at odds. Last start, the Capitalist gelding was first-up off a lengthy 10-month break when he overcame a bad start and beat all but one home in a 1200m Maiden on this track. Last out of the gates, she settled eight lengths off the pace and looked there just to make up the numbers but a whirlwind finish saw her come from the clouds to grab second prize, beaten a length on the line. Louise Day has her second ride on the four-year-old today and that extra 100m just might do the trick here. Going on that last-start effort, an each-way ticket here looks a good investment.
