Goulburn Tips 09/10/2022

Our form expert provides Goulburn tips for today’s horse racing at Goulburn Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.5  TOKEN CAPITALIST  ($3.40 with Palmerbet)

Annabel Neasham saddles-up TOKEN CAPITALIST here who has made a promising start to his career and looks set for another big effort in this field. Last start, the well-bred Capitalist gelding came off a debut winning performance at Hawkesbury when he tried to lead all the way at Newcastle but came up one short, taking home second prize in the Class 1 Hcp over 1400m. On a Heavy 9 that day, he ran the trip out, 4.3 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best here by more than 2 lengths. Ideally drawn in gate three today, Alysha Collett should have him on-speed from that draw and in the conditions, he should prove a hard nut to crack today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No.5  HEADSTOCK  ($4.60 with Unibet)

The Team Price-trained HEADSTOCK is three starts into this preparation and looks ideally placed here to break through today. Last start, the Headwater gelding was caught wide early and stuck there to the turn, but still managed to finish well enough to grab third prize in the 1000m Maiden Plate at Kembla Grange. With Louise Day in the saddle, he ran the last 600m, half a length slower than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. Day sticks with him here and he gets the gun-run from gate one where he maps to settle just off the speed. Placed twice from as many starts on soft going, if handles the heavy track, he should prove hard to beat today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.1  SO GOOD SO COOL  ($6 with Neds)

Wyong galloper SO GOOD SO COOL is in outstanding form this time in and comes to back Goulburn to (hopefully) make it ‘third time lucky’ today. Last start, the Capitalist gelding had just completed five-straight top-two finishes when he lined-up against city class competition for the first time. In a BM72 Hcp at Randwick, he finished last of the seven runners over 1200m trip. He has Dylan Gibbons back on board today who boasts a successful record with the four-year-old, scoring twice (and finishing second once) from his four rides on the gelding. With the form he is in this campaign, he should prove hard to hold out here at (currently) good odds.
