BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 4 LUCASAYD – ($2.90)

Jake Stephens brings last start Gawler placegetter LUCASAYD up to the South-East for a country maiden. Lachie Neindorf retains the ride on the horse who stays to trip for his third run in this prep. He wasn’t able to go with the stablemate Oh No George when resuming over the mile at Murray Bridge. Lucasayd still worked home to finish fourth, showing some promise of his own. Lobbed towards the rear at Gawler over 1700 metres before coming off the bit and placed under pressure when they quickened. He did respond to the riding of Neindorf to get to the outside and run on. He’s finished as a black booker for the day in terms of a horse wanting further. Staying to trip is perhaps not ideal; however, this is a step-back in class.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 No. 10 MOSS THE BOSS – ($7)

Trainer Trevor Day has MOSS THE BOSS racing well-enough to be considered a genuine each-way hope here. Pulled out a couple of solid performances on Heavy tracks at Strathalbyn and Galwer while racing over 1500 metres to a mile. Day gave him a let-up following those two runs and it took a couple for Moss The Boss to find his best again. His most recent form behind Pitrain at Murray Bridge and Chelimo at Gawler keeps him right in this race. Moss The Boss gets through the Heavy going and he’s a horse we want to be on as the track really chops out for the last.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 3 DESTINY’S REPUBLIC – ($7.50)

Former South-East trainer Peter Hardacre has found immediate improvement with the well-travelled  DESTINY’S REPUBLIC. The gelding has only had the two starts for his new trainer who seems to be relishing his move to the Murray Bridge training complex. Took the blinkers off when only fairly away before hunting through to sit on a hot speed in town. Was going to run third for all money up the straight before shortening inside the last 75m, becoming blanketed to the line. Jumped better from out wide second-up and failed to cross the hot speed before folding into the straight. Both runs were over 1000 metres in town with the step-up to 1100 metres the query here.
