Our form expert provides Goulburn tips for today’s horse racing at Goulburn Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.8  JACKYY DEE  ($4.85 with BoomBet)

Wyong trainer, Damien Lane, makes the three-hour trip south today with just two runners and JACKYY DEE looks the most likely to succeed for him today. Last start, the Pluck gelding was third-up and came off his maiden win at Narromine when he beat all but one home at Taree in a Class 1 Hcp over 1007m. He box-seated all the way and slipping off the fence at the 150m, took the lead but was grabbed just as quickly by one better on the day. Mitchell Bell takes the reins for the first time here as he makes his track debut today. Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to be box-seating again and with a trouble-free run, he can get the better of these and take home the major prize.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1:  No.2  FINAL COMMENT  ($5.50 with bet365)

The Nick Olive-trained FIANL COMMENT is in top-shelf form this preparation and on a five-day back-up here, looks a serious contender for back-to-back wins today. Last start, the Hellbent gelding was ridden a real treat by Louise Day and proved too good for a BM58 field over the mile at the Sapphire Coast. He settled behind the speed, crossed those heels and went on to win by more than a length in the 12-strong contest. That made it five podium finishes from his six starts this time in. This is a little tougher but he has Day sticking with him and his form can’t be faulted.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.4  TROUPER KNUCKLE ($8 with Ladbrokes)

The Keith Dryden-trained TROOPER KNUCKLE is second-up today and has the runs on the board to suggest he can take this out (at odds today). Last start, the five-year-old was fresh off an 18-week absence when he finished a gallant third in a BM66, here over 1300m, carrying 62kgs that day. That was his first look at the Goulburn track. Last preparation he took out a Class 3 Hwy Hcp over 1500m at Rosehill which puts him in good stead here. Already a winner when second-up, he will strip fitter from that first-up effort and after the claim here, he carries 2kgs less today. Nicely drawn in gate five, he maps to settle better than mid-field (with cover) and should be there at the finish.
