BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No.4  NAVAL COMMISSION  ($2.50 with Palmerbet)

The Maher & Eustace stable saddle-up NAVAL COMMISSION here who is in great touch this preparation and looks set to give this contest a real shake today. Last start, the Merchant Navy gelding made up good ground to grab his third-straight podium finish when he claimed third prize in a BM58 Hcp over 2000m at Mudgee. He has been consistent since winning his maiden when first-up off a six-month break and this assignment looks no harder than his last run. Blake Spriggs rode him to that maiden win and returns here to complete the job. At his peak today, he can take this out.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.4  WHITE LIAR  ($9 with Bet Right)

Canberra galloper WHITE LIAR has found the podium five times from eight starts this preparation and looks every chance of adding another top-three finish to her resume today. Last start, the Wandjina mare took home third prize in a tight finish at Moruya when she tackled a BM58 Hcp over 1200m. With Louise Day aboard, she fanned wide on the turn and arrived just a little late on the line with four of them hitting it together. Her only start at Goulburn resulted in a win over the same trip, three starts back in similar company. Damon Budler has ridden the five-year-old 15 times to date, steering her to two of her three career wins and he returns for today’s assignment. With just a little luck in running, the mare can give this a real fright at odds today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.6  HEROMANIA  ($11.20 with BoomBet)

With only one blemish on his resume this time in, the Lauren Davies-trained HEROMANIA gets every chance to bounce back here today. Last start, the Von Costa de Hero gelding came off a hat-trick of top-two finishes when he dropped out of the contest at Moruya, later found to have lacerations on him from the run. In a wide-open affair, he was sent out a $6 favourite in the BM58 Hcp but after being trapped four-wide without cover, straightened up for the run home and didn’t go with it. He’s had two weeks to recover and here, gets the gun-run from gate one today with Robyn Freeman remaining aboard, who steered the four-year-old to victory three starts back in a Sapphire Coast Maiden. Runner-up here two starts back, there’s plenty to be happy about his chances today and he is well worth an each-way ticket here.
