BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.3 TRE REDOUTE ($3.40 with bet365)
Eagle Farm trainer, Desleigh Forster travels south of the border and saddles-up TRE REDOUTE here who is second-up and looking a more than likely chance of going back-to-back today. Last start, the Dissident filly was fresh after almost six months off the scene when she made it look easy, taking out a BM58 Hcp over 1110m at Lismore. She settled mid-field that day and simply finished over the top of them in the 12-strong event. She faces Class 2 company today but has the services of James Orman for this assignment. Ideally drawn in gate four, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen and looks the testing material today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1: No.3 GULF OF TOMINI ($5 with Bet Right)
Port Macquarie galloper is a true track specialist here and will take some beating today. Last start, the Not A Single Doubt gelding came off a failed city run when he finished strongly to grab third prize in the Grafton Cup Prelude over 2230m. He settled mid-field that day and was beaten less than two lengths on the line. He gets his chance to atone here and boasts five starts on the track for three wins and two minor placings. Ben Thompson has the reins for this assignment where he really looks the one to beat.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.11 DEVIL’S THROAT ($10 with bet365)
Chances are aplenty in the big one today as we run with the Team Snowden-trained DEVIL’S THROAT to finish best and bring up the hat-trick here. Last start, the Snitzel gelding came off a first-up win in a BM78 Hcp at Rosehill when he franked that effort with a déjà vu performance at the same track two weeks later and took the honours again. He has placed in a Randwick trial since and is already a winner when third-up. Reece Jones has steered him to victory twice previously from his three rides on the four-year-old and has the job again today. His only concern will be the wide gate (13 of 16) but if he can cross and settle near mid-field (with cover), he will be in this up to his eye teeth. He has a powerful finish over the 1200m trip and with a clear crack at them today, he looks a solid each-way chance today.
