BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.3  AL ASH LAD  ($2.60 with bet365)

The Matt Dunn-trained AL ASH LAD has come back in top shelf form this time in and looks one of the main players in this contest. Last start, the Al Maher gelding finally broke through for his maiden win and second-up, he did it in style, winning the 1200m event at Murwillumbah. He crossed from his wide gate ( 8 of 9) and took up the front running and ran his rivals off their feet, going on to embarrass them by almost six lengths on the line. He has Ben Looker back aboard today and has the outside gate to deal with as he makes his Grafton debut. He has placed twice from two previous third-up appearances and if he can reproduce a run like his last-start victory, he will prove hard to beat here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.7  BEAN FOGGY  ($4.20 with Unibet)

Murwillumbah galloper BEAN FOGGY is second-up today and ticks the right boxes here to be considered a winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Spill The Beans gelding was fresh off an 11-week break when finishing fifth (of 13) at Ipswich over 1350m. He comes to Grafton, already a winner at the track, and his resume shows four previous second-up appearances resulted in three victories. Ben Looker is back in the saddle, boasting two wins and three minor placings from his eight rides to date on the four-year-old. Ideally drawn in gate four today, he looks a major player in this line-up.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.6  YUKANUMA  ($4.60 with Ladbrokes)

Stephen Lee saddles-up YUKANUMA here who also ticks enough boxes to stake a serious claim for victory in this contest today. Last start, the Real Impact gelding wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a Class 1 Hcp over 1800m at Eagle Farm. He held his own in the run home and was beaten just over a length on the line against the city class company. Jai Williams is back in the saddle (having ridden him to his maiden win here four starts back). Already a winner at the track and trip and rock hard fit this time in, he will take beating here.
