BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.8  REBEL’S EDGE  ($4.60 with Palmerbet)

Muswellbrook galloper REBEL’S EDGE made his racing debut here two years ago as a two-year-old and with five starts under his belt this time in, could make this a winning return to where it all began. Last start, the Rebel Dane gelding found the podium for the first time this preparation when he took home third prize in a BM66 Hcp over 1600m at Scone. In a three-horse fight to the finish, there was less than half a length separated the three of them on the line. Grant Buckley returns for his second ride on the four-year-old today and from gate five, maps to settle mid-field. With a trouble-free run here, he looks a genuine winning chance in this line-up.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.14  OH NO BRO  ($8 with Bet Right)

The Stephen Jones-trained OH NO BRO has improved in three starts this preparation and looks well placed in this field to stake claims for the major prize today. Last start, the Casino Prince gelding missed the start but still managed to beat all but one home in a BM50 Hcp over 1300m at Narromine. He settled third-last, ten lengths off the pace and looked 100-1 from there, but lifted strongly in the run home to arrive in time for the runner-up’s prize. He jumps from gate six today and maps to settle near mid-field where he may have to be as he drops back in distance for this contest. Jake Pracey-Holmes has steered the five-year-old to a podium finish in both races he has ridden him in and rock-hard fit after three runs back, he can give this a real shake today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.9  FILL YOUR HEART  ($14 with Palmerbet)

The Kris Lees-trained FILL YOUR HEART resumes today after five months in the paddock but coming off two recent trials, looks a genuine chance of victory here at big odds. Last start, the More Than Ready filly ended her last preparation with a win in a 1300m Maiden Hcp at Tuncurry. With Darryl McLellan aboard that day, she came from last on the turn (as a $20 chance) and swamped them over the final 200m to arrive in time on the line. She has drawn wide here but will get back anyway as McLellan remains aboard for this assignment. With clear passage to the line, she will be running on strongly and looks well worth an each-way ticket today.
