Our form expert provides Hawkesbury tips for today’s horse racing at Hawkesbury Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.8  STRUFF  ($5 with Ladbrokes)

The Richard Collett-trained STRUFF boasts a 100% podium-finish strike rate after six career-starts and looks the goods here to maintain that record today. Last start, the Winning Rupert mare came off her maiden win, (here over 1300m), when she beat all but one home in a Class 1 over 1200m at Wyong. Andrew Calder has been the only rider to steer her around the track to date and has the job again today. Drawn well in gate six, she maps to settle better than mid-field (with cover) and already a winner at the track and distance, a trouble-free run here should see her as the one to beat.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1:  No.6  REGATTA  ($8 with Palmerbet)

The Scone-based galloper, REGATTA, has shown plenty of promise in his first three race-starts and looks a serious player in this contest. Last start, the Japanese-sired gelding made it third time lucky when he broke through for his maiden win over 1280m at Muswellbrook. Sent out a $2.80 favourite, he was trapped three-wide (with cover) to the turn and had to fight for it, but got there in the end. Stronger today after those three runs to date, the step-up in distance looks ideal and with Zac Lloyd aboard, he looks the one to beat here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.4  YOUTHFULL  ($10.20 with BoomBet)

The Brad Widdup-trained YOUTHFULL is third-up today and should be ready to show her best in this contest. Last start, the So You Think mare was second-up off a 17-week break when she locked horns with city-class gallopers in a BM72 at Rosehill. She raced three-wide without cover for most of the race and just couldn’t match it with them in the run home, finishing unplaced that day. Fitter here and back to country class racing, Jett Stanley has his second ride on the mare today and after his 2kg claim, she looks well weighted here with 57kgs to carry. Already a winner when third-up, she can give us a bold sight at odds today.
