BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.5 DOMINGO ($3 with bet365)
Locally-trained by John O’Shea, DOMINGO is three starts back from an 18-week break and improving with each run, looks ready to strike today. Last start, the Contributer gelding improved even further from his first two starts back by beating all but one home in a BM64 over 2100m at Gosford. Carrying 59kgs on a Soft 6 that day, he was well ridden by Tom Sherry and showed signs he was ready to peak. In a small field today, he gets his chance and rock-hard fit for this assignment, he can get the job done here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 3: No.4 INVERSON ($5.50 with Ladbrokes)
The David Pfieffer-trained INVERSON hasn’t made a dent in his Hawkesbury efforts to date but here, under changed conditions, he gets another opportunity and looks a winning chance today. Last start, the So You Think gelding hit his straps and took out a BM64 over the mile at Gosford. Dylan Gibbons stuck with him from the Newcastle runner-up result and had the six-year-old settled in the box seat and after crossing the leader’s heels inside the final 250m, held on from there to land the bacon. He meets similar company here and has Gibbons as the pilot again. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps for a déjà vu performance today and looks in the mix for a back-to-back result.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.8 THE SEVEN SEAS ($9.60 with BoomBet)
John Sargent saddles-up THE SEVEN SEAS here who is in career-best form of late and looks a serious player (at odds) in this contest. Last start, the Merchant Navy mare came off a big win in a BM68 Midway at Newcastle when she held her own and beat all but one home in a harder BM78 Midway Hcp over 1400m on Randwick’s Kensington track. Backed in from $9 to $6, Tyler Schiller rode her a treat that day but just found one better in the race. Today she steps up to Listed company and has a new pilot with Rachel King having her first ride on the four-year-old. From gate six, she maps to settle mid-field and with a clear run to the line, she can give this a real shake at each-way odds today.
