Hong Kong Tips 03/05/2023

Our form expert provides Hong Kong tips for tonight’s horse racing at Happy Valley Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.7  HOSS  ($1.85 with bet365)

The Jamie Richards-trained HOSS is in top-shelf form at the moment and looks the best of the night. Last start, the Fiorente gelding was shooting for the hat-trick when he missed by a whisker in pulling it off. Ridden a treat by Zac Purton that night, he settled mid-field (with cover) and took over inside the final 200m but couldn’t hold off the challenge by Winning Icey, beaten a short head on the line in the Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m. No Winning Icey tonight as Purton sticks with him and from gate two, he maps to settle just off the pace with cover again. Rock-hard fit tonight, he will take a wealth of beating here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8:  No.5  HELENE FEELING  ($2.60 with Bet Right)

Danny Shum saddles-up HELENE FEELING here who is third-up tonight and is looking for a seventh-straight podium finish tonight. Last start, the American-sired gelding was second-up and settled nicely, mid-field on the fence. On straightening, Zac Purton secured a split and took over soon after and fought tooth and nail with Rocket Spade but prevailed, nosing out his challenger right on the line. Purton sticks with the three-year-old tonight and already a winner when third-up, and at the track and distance, with a trouble-free run here, he looks the testing material again.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9:  No.10  ACT OF FAITH  ($5.50 with Palmerbet)

A pull in the weights here could see the John Size-trained ACT OF FAITH get away with a win tonight. Last start, the Press Statement gelding made it three-straight podium finishes when he beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m. He did plenty of early work, where he was three-wide until settling outside the leader, one off the fence. It turned out to be a two-horse war in the run home with early leader (Xponential) fighting on to prevail on the line. Karis Teetan sticks with him tonight and with a trouble-free run, can finished best here and get the job done.
