BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.4 TOURBILLON PRINCE ($4.40 with Bet Right)
The Benno Yung-trained TOURBILLON PRINCE has found his feet after three starts back and tonight looks ready to ring up career-win number three in this contest. Last start, the Rommel gelding found the podium again when third-up by finishing third in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1650m. He drew the outside gate (12) that night and did well to finish as close as he did. He is on a short seven-day back-up here and steps up to the 1800m tonight which looks ideal for him at this stage of his preparation. Much better drawn here in gate four, Jerry Chau is back for his second ride on the five-year-old and after his claim, the gelding carries 2kgs less than last start. After three runs back, he should line up here, rock-hard fit and ready to go tonight.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8: No.7 SWEET BRIAR ($4.60 with bet365)
Francis Lui saddles-up SWEET BRIAR here who is second-up tonight and on track to improve off his first-up effort. Last start, the Shamexpress gelding made his return from the season break when he finished a close-up third (behind Lightning Bolt) in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m. Zac Purton’s mount had the upper hand that night when he was third-up and drew the fence. Tonight, they clash again only Sweet Briar meets him better at the weights as Lyle Hewitson sticks with him for this assignment. With that pull in the weights and fitter for one run back, the five-year-old looks well placed to turn the tables tonight.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 9: No.10 REWARD SMILE ($5 with Bet Right)
The John Size-trained REWARD SMILE is four starts into this campaign and deserves a change of luck tonight. Last start, the Havana Grey gelding came from last on the turn, to finish second behind our best-of-the-day (Season’s Wit). Unable to cross, Alex Badel had to settle him at the rear of the field and hope for a lot of luck in running. He kept him on the fence as they cornered and saving a ton of ground, he went to the line strongly and beat the rest of them to the wire. Tonight, he draws the middle of the field and with good early gate speed, maps to settle better than mid-field here. With a little luck in the run home, he can bring up his second Happy Valley win tonight.
