Hong Kong Tips for Wednesday, October 11

Our form expert provides Hong Kong tips for tonight’s horse racing at Happy Valley Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.4  AWESOME TREASURE  ($2.90 with bet365)

Davis Hayes and Zac Purton team-up again here with AWESOME TREASURE who is second-up after the season break tonight and ticks enough boxes to get the job done. Last start, the Charm Spirit gelding did a mighty job on fresh legs as he tried to lead all the way and came within a whisker of pulling it off, but was nailed right on the post by race-favourite (Lucky Gor) in a two-horse war down the home straight. Fitter for that run tonight, Zac Purton returns for his fourth ride on the six-year-old who is already a winner when second-up. He gets the gun-run from gate one tonight and will take catching again.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8:  No.5  LIGHTNING BOLT  ($5.50 with BlueBet)

The Danny Shum-trained LIGHTNING BOLT is third-up tonight and looks every chance of going back-to-back here. Last start, the British-sired gelding was second-up off the season break and showing plenty of improvement, took out a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m. With Zac Purton on board for the first time, he settled mid-field on the fence, the turning for home, Purton eased him out wide and once balanced, he asked him for a final effort where he didn’t disappoint. He reeled in them in and arrived just in time to claim the major prize that night. He gets all the favours with gate one here as Purton sticks with him and even fitter now, he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.6  WOOD ON FIRE  ($5.50 with bet365)

The Michael Chang-trained WOOD ON FIRE is second-up tonight and after his first-up effort, looks set for win number seven in this contest. Last start, the Per Incanto gelding looked set to challenge for victory when he was squeezed out of contention, but fought back strongly to grab third prize in a Class 4, here over the 1200m trip. Karis Teetan was aboard that night and sticks with the eight-year-old here. He draws nicely in gate four tonight and with a bit more luck in this event, he can make amends here and bring home the bacon.
