The David Hall-trained INVINCIBLE SAGE is second-up today and looks well placed for back-ti-back wins here. Last start, the Thronum gelding drew the outside gate (down the straight course) and Hugh Bowman had him settled second-last, five lengths off the pace. Patiently ridden, ‘Bowy’ waited for the split and inside the final 200m, got it and passed them all with ease to claim victory. He draws much better today in gate four and already a winner when second-up, with Bowman aboard again, he looks the testing material here.

Race 10: No.3 JOYFUL HUNTER ($3.20 with bet365)
Francis Lui saddles-up JOYFUL HUNTER here who is yet to miss a podium finish in four starts and third-up today looks ready to record another win. Last start, the Darci Brahma gelding had Lyle Hewitson aboard who settled him mid-field, one off the fence. Four lengths from the front. In the run home, he was clear and had every chance, but just couldn’t run down the first two, finishing third in the end. He steps-up to the 1400m today which looks ideal with two starts behind him. Hewitson remains in the saddle and better drawn here in gate three, looks a genuine winning chance in this contest.

The John Size-trained RED LION resumes today after 15 weeks in the paddock and looks well placed here on fresh legs to make some noise is this contest. Last start, the Irish-bred gelding ended his last campaign finishing fifth in a Class 1 Hcp, here over the mile with Alex Badel in the saddle. He resumes today and gets all the favours from gate one as Badel sticks with him for this assignment. Already a winner when first-up, he looks poised to bring John Size his 1,500th winner today.
