Race 3:  No.4  MULTISUPER  ($2.15 with Unibet)

The Ricky Yiu-trained MULTISUPER is second-up today and looks well placed here to make an impact in this contest. Last start, the Vancouver gelding came off a 12-week spell when he found the podium by taking home third prize in a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1000m. With Hugh Bowman aboard that day, he made ground over the final 200m and did well to beat all but two home down the straight course. He steps up to the 1200m again and draws well in gate seven where he maps to settle near mid-field with cover. Placed in a recent trial and fitter for that first-up hit-out, he looks a good chance of bringing up his first victory today.

Race 8:  No.9  HAPPY GOLF  ($2.20 with Ladbrokes)

Former Australian galloper HAPPY GOLF is now with local trainer Frankie Lor and lines up here shooting for the hat-trick today. Last start, the Manhattan Rain gelding made it back-to-back victories when he blew them away in a Class 4 Hcp, here over the 1200m trip. With 59.5kgs on his back, Hugh Bowman rode him a treat, settling two pairs back and on the fence with cover. The split came on straightening and showing a blistering turn-of-foot, he put paid to them in a heartbeat and went to win by 1.5 lengths in the end. He steps-up in class today and is joined by Zac Purton for the first time (with Bowman booked to ride the topweight here). Ideally drawn in gate two, he gets all the favours from there and drops 4.5kgs as well. He has the runs on the board and should prove hard to beat again.

Race 10:  No.13  UNPRESUMING  ($10 with bet365)

John Size saddles-up UNPRESUMING here who has been racing without luck of late but gets his chance here to turn it all around. Last start, the English-bred gelding finished mid-field in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1400m. After jumping from gate 11, he missed the start and settled second-last of the 14-strong field, a dozen lengths off the pace. The tempo was extremely slow which didn’t help but he turned a few heads with his efforts in the run home, passing all but the first five across the line, making up a ton of ground in the process, finishing just three lengths from the winner. He steps up to the mile here which looks ideal for him after six runs this time in. He draws ideally in gate four today and maps to settle near mid-field with cover. He drops 2kgs from his last start and with just 53kgs to carry here, he should prove hard to hold out with a clear run to the line today.
