Hong Kong Tips 28/06/2023

Our form expert provides Hong Kong tips for tonight’s horse racing at Happy Valley Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 9:  No.1  SUPERB CAPITALIST  ($4.60 with bet365)

The Tony Cruz-trained SUPERB CAPITALIST is in top-shelf form at the moment and looks poised to bring up the hat-trick tonight. Last start, the Capitalist gelding made it back-to-back wins when carrying an additional 4kgs, he led from barrier to box in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m with Angus Chung in the saddle. He meets similar company again here over the same trip and has Chung sticking with him, looking for his fourth victory on the three-year-old. Ideally drawn in gate three tonight, he maps to be dictating the pace again on settling and although he carries a further 3kgs here, he can lead them a merry dance again and salute.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.2  LEAN HERO  ($8 with bet365)

The David Hayes-trained LEAN HERO has improved at each start this preparation and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories tonight. Last start, the Maurice colt was third-up when he brought up his second career win, taking out a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1650m. Hugh Bowman settled him mid-field, one off the fence and rode him a treat from there, finishing best to get the job done. He faces similar company here over the same trip and will strip even fitter after those three runs back. He has drawn the outside gate but has the early gate speed to cross and settle near mid-field again. Bowman sticks with him here and with a little luck in running, he can figure in the finish again.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.5  LOYAL  BABY  ($4.80 with bet365)

Frankie Lor saddles-up LOYAL BABY here who has been thereabouts at his past four starts and deserves a change of luck tonight. Last start, he added to his solid record at Happy Valley by beating all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1650m. He led from the outset and pinching a break on the turn, looked set to collect the chocolates but was grabbed on the line by one better on the night. Matt Chadwick has found the podium with him on four occasions from his seven previous rides and returns here for tonight’s assignment. Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to lead them again and if he dictates the pace as he did last start, he can get away with contest.
