BEST BET 🏆

Race 8:  No.2  INVAHIR

In career-best form this time in, the Toby Edmonds-trained INVAHIR should be at his peak today and is more than capable of taking home the major prize in this contest. Last start, the Invader gelding was shooting for the hat-trick when he had to settle for third prize in a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1350m. The four-year-old has settled in well since transferring across from the Clint Lundholm camp and has impressed in his two starts for Edmonds. He gets the gun-run today from gate one and maps to settle in the first half-dozen with cover. Cejay Graham is the new pilot and with a trouble-free run here, he should prove hard to beat in this class.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.4  BASSAC LANE

The Toby Edmonds-trained BASSAC LANE is high-flying after two starts back and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Nicconi gelding went one better than his first-up effort when he hung on gamely in taking out a BM62 over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast. Drawn out that day (8 of 9), he travelled wide throughout but still proved too strong on the line. Today, he has Robbie Dolan steering the ship where his two previous visits have both resulted in top-two finishes. Already a winner when third-up, he will strip even fitter today and should prove hard to beat.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.8  JOVITA

The Lee Freedman-trained JOVITA resumes today after four months in the paddock and boasting a strong fresh record, can figure in this contest. Last start, the well-bred Snitzel mare ended her last campaign with a clean sweep where she made it seven-straight podium finishes by beating all but to the line in a BM66 over the mile at Ballina. Her only failure in nine career starts was on debut when she finished unplaced that day. She has won at Class 3 level (on the Gold Coast) two starts back which puts her in stead for this assignment. Ideally drawn in gate three today, Samatha Collett is the new pilot and placed in her only start here, she looks a solid winning chance at odds.
