BEST BET 🏆

Race 8:  No.15  NARNIA  ($4.20 with bet365)

The Annabel Neasham-trained NARNIA comes in well at the weights here and looks the testing material today. Last start, the Not A Single Doubt colt broke through for his Maiden win at Doomben over the 1350m trip. He covered the journey, 6.4 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by 8 lengths. He also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the event. Last-start winning rider Brodie Loy sticks with him today as he maps to settle near mid-field from gate seven. Up to Class 1 company here, he comes off a city-class win and sees the Ipswich track for the first time. Scratched from Eagle Farm last Saturday, this does look a more suitable challenge and he prove hard to hold out today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.3  PLATINI  ($4.60 with bet365)

The Robert Heathcote-trained PLATINI is racing consistently this time in and with conditions to suit here, looks a genuine threat to victory today. Last start, the Charge Forward gelding was prominent throughout when finishing third in a BM68 Hcp over 1200m on a Heavy 10 at Doomben. He covered his last 600m, 1.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. He gets the gun-run here from gate two as James Orman returns for his second ride on the six-year-old. Coming off city-class racing, he looks well placed in this company to challenge for the top prize today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 3:  No.5  GOLDSCHLAGER  ($6.50 with Palmerbet)

The Chris Munce-trained GOLDSCHLAGER is a track specialist and returning to country class today, looks right in the mix today. Last start, the Deep Field mare wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth (of 12) in a Class 3 Plate over 1350m at Doomben. She ran her last 600m, 7.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 5 lengths. Samantha Collett has the reins for the first time today and from a favourable draw in gate four, maps to settle near mid-field. Already a track and distance winner and boasts four top-three finishes from her five starts here, she looks set to give this a real shake at odds today.
