BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.7  I AM TAKINGTHELOT  ($3.90 with Bet Right)

The Tony Gollan-trained I AM TAKINGTHELOT is in top-shelf form this preparation and ticks enough boxes here to get the job done today. Last start, the I Am Invincible mare came off her maiden win at Doomben when she beat all but one home in a tougher BM65, here over 1350m. She should find this contest a little easier as James Orman returns for this assignment (having ridden the mare to that maiden win) and boasts a 23% success rate with the Gollan stable. Ideally drawn in gate two today, a trouble-free run should see her hard to beat here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.1  OCTAVIO  ($4.40 with BlueBet)

Chris Waller has a trio of runners engaged here today and among them is OCTAVIO who lines-up in this contest, second-up and ready to win. Last start, the Pierro gelding was fresh off an 18-week break when he beat all but one home in a 1400m Maiden at the Sunshine Coast. With James Orman aboard for the first time, he settled mid-field and ran home strongly, but was grabbed late by one better on the night. Fitter for that run, Orman sticks with him today and from gate three, he maps well and should prove hard to beat here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.7  TRIBECA STAR  ($5.25 with Bet Right)

Matt Dunn saddles-up three of the eight runners in this event as we run with TRIBECA STAR to triumph ahead of his stablemates. Last start, the Star Turn gelding resumed from a lengthy 29 weeks off the scene and was unlucky not to kick things off with a win. Tightened for room as they turned, he finally got clear but was hounded by Thelwell who had the advantage of a previous start and he got the line a neck in front in the end. Fitter today and yet to miss a podium finish in five career-starts to date, Ben Thompson sticks with him and with blinkers off today, he should prove hard to hold out here.
