BEST BET 🏆

Race 8:  No.4  PREACH  ($3.50 with Bet Right)

Second-up today, the Team Edmonds-trained PREACH will strip fitter from that first-up run and looks well placed here to give this contest a real shake. Last start, the Flying Artie gelding resumed off a four-month spell and had issues in running, finishing down the track in a Class 2 Hcp over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast. Respiratory noises were reported after the race. He has enjoyed a four-week freshen-up since and beat all but one home when second-up last preparation. Two starts here have resulted in two top-two finishes as Martin Harley sticks with him today. With almost half the field withdrawn early, barrier eight is no longer an issue as he maps to settle near the speed. If he is ‘on song’ today, he looks the one to beat.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.3  SHEEZASINGA  ($6.10 with BoomBet)

The Dalby-based galloper SHEEZASINGA is fresh off a five-month absence and is shooting for the hat-trick today. Last start, the Whittington mare ended her last campaign going back-to-back when she won an Open company Hcp over the 800m sprint at Dalby. She then hit the paddock and since then, returned to work in style by taking out a 650m barrier trial by 3.5 lengths. She lines-up here down in grade and is joined by Jake Molloy who brings a 3kg claim with him. A known ‘jump and run’ leader, she maps to do exactly that today coming out of gate three and ticks the important boxes, being a first-up winner and a winner at the track and distance. That big trial win should have her all set to win here again at surprisingly good odds today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.2  DIS GO BOOM  ($7.50 with Bet Right)

The Lindsay Hatch-trained DIS GO BOOM is three starts into this preparation and looks ready to win. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding continued to show improvement when third-up as he took home third prize in a BM68 Hcp, here over 1680m. Jake Molloy returns for the ride today and he boasts a solid record with the gelding, steering him to three of his four career wins from six previous rides. Drawn nicely in gate six, he maps to settle just off the speed and will be at his peak today. Already a winner at the track and distance, a trouble-free run here should see him in the thick of it when it counts. At odds today, he looks a worthy investment.
