BEST BET 🏆
Race 9: No.11 HELIKEDEMPRETTY
The Robert Heathcote-trained HELIKEDEMPRETTY is high-flying this time in and looks set to play a major role in the outcome here. Last start, the Pariah mare made it a hat-trick of top-two finishes when she took home second prize behind Typhoon Taavi in a BM65 over 1200m at Doomben. He settled second that day and was left to take the field up to the leader but couldn’t bridge the gap in the run home, settling for the silver medal that day. Noel Callow was aboard that day and steers the ship again in this contest. At her peak today, she draws nicely in gate three and should take beating here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.6 SHERRIFF CODY
The Owen Glue-trained SHERRIFF CODY has been knocking on the door at all four starts this preparation and now looks ready to win. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding put in his best effort this time in when he beat all but one home in Open company over the mile at Grafton. He settled back in the field that day but put in the big ones in the run home to grab second prize on the line. Cejay Graham makes the trip to Ipswich today and has her first ride on the five-year-old. Dropping back in grade here, he does no work from gate two and will relish the heavy going, having already won three of four previous starts in the conditions. There’s plenty to like about his chances today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No.7 EXCEED SPEED
Tony Gollan saddles-up EXCEED SPEED here who hasn’t missed a podium finish in three starts this time in and looks ideally placed here to keep that trend going today. Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding was well backed when he broke through for his first win in a 1350m Maiden on this track. Ridden a treat by Michael Rodd, he settled one out/one back and in the run home, did best to win narrowly on the line. At his peak here today, he gets the gun-run from gate one and has Damien Thornton as the new pilot. Now a track and distance winner, he looks set for back-to-back wins here.
