BEST BET 🏆
Race 9: No.5 MR WANDJI ($3.80 with Bet Right)
The Toowoomba-based MR WANDJI sees the Ipswich track for the first time today and after four-straight unplaced runs this preparation, is overdue for a change of luck and here is where it can happen. Last start, the Wandjina gelding sat closer to the speed and raced much better before finishing fourth (of 11) in a Class 1 over 1300m on his home track. This looks a little easier today and better drawn in gate four, he maps to be (possibly) box-seating on settling. Emily Lang is the pilot today and after her claim, the four-year-old carries 2.5kgs less than last start. With a trouble-free run today, he gets his best chance to bring up career-win number two here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.4 THE KHAN ($3.40 with bet365)
Marcus Wilson saddles-up THE KHAN here who has found his mojo and looks poised to go on with it in this contest. Last start, the Mongolian Khan gelding finally broke through for his first win after 19 starts. Second-up on the Gold Coast poly track, he came from mid-field that day to take finish over the top of the 12-strong field and crossed the line more than two lengths ahead of them. James Orman has his second ride on the galloper today and fitter for two runs back, he looks in the mix here and a solid chance for back-to-back victories.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.3 AIR MARSHAL ($5.25 with Picklebet)
Gold Coast galloper AIR MARSHAL is in good touch this time in and coming off a couple of city efforts, looks well placed here to bounce back to winning form today. Last start, the Smart Missile gelding finished unplaced for the second consecutive time when up against the city gallopers. He finished mid-field in a BM70 Hcp over 1200m at Doomben with 60kgs on his back. He should find this contest a little easier as James Orman takes the reins for the first time. Already a winner here (at his only start), and a three-time winner at the 1100m, he looks much better suited here and will take beating today.
