BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No.2  MATILLY  ($1.85 with bet365)

Toowoomba galloper, MATILLY, is fresh off a 13-week spell today but still looks the goods to take out this contest. Last start, the Kobayashi mare ended a four-race winning streak when she took on city class company and had to settle for third prize in a Three-Year-Old Hcp over 1050m at Doomben. Justin Stanley has been with her from the outset and steers the ship again today. From gate three, she maps to jump and run where she is expected to lead them on settling. Four wins (and a minor placing) from her five starts to date paints the picture here. Returning to the country scene and already a winner on fresh legs, she looks the best of the day.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.5  HARDWARE LANE  ($2.75 with BoomBet)

The John Smerdon-trained HARDWARE LANE is second-up today and having his second start for the stable, looks in mix for a win here. Last start, the Scissor Kick gelding was fresh off an 18-week break and was making his stable debut when he beat all but one home in a Class 4 Hcp over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast. Andre Mallyon gave him the run of the race (one out, one back) and in the run home, through everything he had into it but was nosed-out on the line. Fitter for that run today, he has Justin Huxtable at the helm for this assignment as he gets the gun-run from gate one. A trouble-free run today should see him there at the finish.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.1  MAGNITUDO  ($3 with Bet Right)

Lindsay Gough saddles-up MAGNITUDO here who is three starts into this preparation and should be ready to produce his best today. Last start, the Denman gelding carried 59.5kgs and was caught three-wide without cover for most of the trip as he finished unplaced in a BM66 Hcp over 1200m at Murwillumbah. He drops a little in grade here and after the claim from Jasper Franklin, he carries 2kgs less today. His six starts at the track have resulted in two wins and as many minor placings so that suggests he has a liking for the Ipswich track. Ideally drawn in gate two and at his peak today, he looks a serious contender for the major prize here.
