Kalgoorlie Tips 7/10/2023
BEST BET 🏆
Race 8 No. 3 VILLEINS – ($2.05)
We’ll take VILLEINS as our Best Bet of the day in the feature KALGOORLIE CUP over the weekend. We won’t be looking to reinvent the wheel on a turning track that not all horses handle. Villeins stamped his name as the forerunner for the Cup with his dominant win in the Listed BOULDER CUP as the main lead-up race. He got back as per usual under William Pike that day before racing past his rivals into the straight. Villeins continued through the line suggesting that the extra furlong would suit from a good draw under Chris Parnham on Saturday.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5 No. 2 COUNT GRUNDY – ($7.60)
We saw COUNT GRUNDY produce a fair effort to win over this track and trip when posted wide throughout last start. Shaun O’Donnell seemed to be in two minds early as to whether or not to push on while looking to get in. The pace did go on after the first furlong which ensured O’Donnell’s position back in the field. He did find cover at least for Count Grundy as the pair pushed deeper on turning. They turned for the judge as the widest with Count Grundy letting down to score over the fast-finishing Mingora. Shaun McGruddy finds himself in the hot seat aboard Count Grundy and is sure to give his mount a softer run from their inside gate.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 1 No. 1 THERMOSPHERE LAD – ($7.50)
It is hard to ignore the two public barrier trials from THERMOSPHERE LAD as Sean & Jake Casey have him set to resume at Kalgoorlie Racecourse on Saturday. Laqdar Ramoly took a firm grip of the horse in the first of such with Thermosphere Lad was inclined to over race badly towards the tail. Ramoly slipped his horse some more leather on straightening with Thermosphere Lad impressive to the line after wanting to lug into the trial on the turn. Jumped sharply to show a clean pair of heels to his rivals as he ran away for a soft win in sharp time during his second trial. Thermosphere lad does have a lugging bit going on for his first-up run and is drawn to be prominent throughout.
