Murray Bridge Tips 7/10/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 9 No. 2 LORD VLADIVOSTOK – ($3.80)

Murray Bridge horseman Michael Hickmott should have his hometown Cup wrapped up in a neat parcel should he present LORD VLADIVOSTOK in the same form the horse was in first-up. We don’t usually see this horse perform to his best so early into his preps, yet that win was phenomenal. Todd Pannell allowed Lord Vladivostok to find his feet early over 1250 metres on the tight-turning Morphettville Parks track. Lord Vladivostok then unleashed a devastating turn of foot to race away and win under the 63 kgs. Hickmott has chosen a different path as to some of his key rivals coming off a Balaklava Cup run. Hickmott has instead kept his Cup hopeful ticking over with a recent barrier trial win up the hill at Strathalbyn with all systems go for Murray Bridge Cup day.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3 No. 1 SECOND TO NUN – ($3.65)

#SABlackbookers horse SECOND TO NUN stole the show at Murray Bridge Racecourse when storming home to score over 1200 metres here last prep. Todd Pannell had let the speed go early before Second To Nun built with a powerful burst up the middle of the track. She cleared out late to score a dominant win before Will Clarken took her to Melbourne. Second To Nun was okay over 1300 metres in that race on the Sandown Hillside before being sent for a spell. Given just a quiet trial under Pannell in typical Clarken style at Strathalbyn as she prepares to take on a race short of her best distance on Saturday.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 4 OATH OF OMERTA – ($10)

Local trainer Michael Hickmott will have OATH OF OMERTA ready to produce his best on Murray Bridge Cup day. The track specialist will be ready to peak following three handy runs with a trial in between. The latest run of Oath Of Omerta saw the gelding race a little fiercely as he got out to 2051 metres at headquarters. Todd Pannell asked his mount to come back off the good speed before building into the race on the turn. Oath Of Omerta had peaked on his run just inside the furlong before grinding to the line. He was up in trip from 1550m that day and will be fitter again while striking a similar sort of field here at best.
