The James Cummings-trained NANSHE is second-up today and fitter for one run back, looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the Astern filly was fresh off a six-month break when she finished third in a Gosford Maiden over 1200m. She struck trouble during the run and should have finished closer that day. That was her first run on NSW soil after transferring from Victoria. Zac Lloyd retains the ride and the extra 100m here should also help. She maps to settle mid-field from gate six and with a trouble-free run this time, the Godolphin filly should prove hard to hold out.

Hawkesbury galloper BOOMSONG has resumed in full flight and looks set for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Your Song gelding had his first run for new trainer Stephen O’Halloran and after six months off the scene, finished best to grab first prize in a BM64 Hcp over 1000m on his new home track. He meets similar company here and carries 2kgs more with Adam Hyeronimus in the saddle for the first time and already a winner here over the trip, he looks a prime contender for the big prize again.

Race 6: No.6 QUEEN ASTRID ($5.50 with Ladbrokes)
The Brad Widdup-trained QUEEN ASTRID hasn’t missed a podium in four starts this preparation and ticks the boxes here to suggest she is a big chance of bringing up win number for this campaign. Last start, the Sebring filly came off her Maiden win on her home track at Hawkesbury when she followed that up by beating all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over the mile at Wyong. She settled just behind the pace that day and gave her all to grab second prize in her first look at a heavy track. Jean Van Overmeire was aboard for both rides and sticks with her today. She meets similar company here and drops in weight as she gets the gun-run from gate one which should see her settle mid-field with cover. With a clear run to the line today, she can give this contest a real shake.
