BEST BET 🏆
Race 4: No.2 NEVER SORRY ($1.90 with Picklebet)
The Kris Lees-trained NEVER SORRY is yet to miss a podium finish this time in and looks well placed here to bring up win number two today. Last start, the No Nay Never mare made it a hat-trick of minor placings when she beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1300m at Hawkesbury. Trying to lead all the way, she gave them something to chase and looked home but was grabbed on the line by a swooper, beaten a neck in the end. She steps up in grade here but comes off provincial opposition to take on country class gallopers today. From gate six, she maps to take a sit behind the speed today as Darryl McLellan takes the reins for this assignment. Overdue for a change of luck, this looks right up her alley and with a clear run home, she will take beating today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.8 BURDEKIN ($4.80 with Bet Right)
Another from the Brett Cavanough stable is BURDEKIN who is high-flying at the moment and looks the goods in this contest. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding recorded his fourth career victory when he clobbered his rivals in a BM58 over 1000m at Casino. He drew wide that day (9 of 10) and had to do plenty of early work as he crossed and took up the front running. Homeward bound and he found plenty more as he held the lead and was never challenged, winning by almost two lengths on the line. His past eight starts have ended with seven podium finishes and whilst in this frame of mind, it’s hard to go past him here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.3 ALLAY ($7.20 with BoomBet)
It’s (currently) $6 the field here and in an open affair we are running with the Brett Cavanough-trained ALLAY to take home the chocolates today. Last start, the Duporth mare was third-up and unwanted in the market ($18) beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1400m at Casino. She settled three-deep without cover and on straightening, was the widest of the 13-strong field. She ran home full of fight but arrived a whisker too late, beaten half a length on the line. Matty McGuren is the pilot for today’s assignment and ideally drawn in gate two today, she does no early work here and with a clear path to the line, looks a real chance of taking this contest out at good odds.
